6" Super Sab Petty - G-Carta

6" Super Sab Petty - G-Carta
A 6” Super Sab petty knife. Drop forged around 100 years ago, in the Elephant Four Star Forge in Thiers France, these knives were never finished. I sourced the unfinished forged blanks which still needed Heat treating to harden the steel, grinding the bevels to a fine cutting edge and the handles attached and shaped. I remove the extended bolster as it gets in the way during use and sharpening and grind the bevels a bit thinner than the factory would to help increase the performance. This petty knife I handled with really fun black white and grey G-Carta scales.
Please note, with this steel being nearly 100 years old, it is NOT quite as high performance as the knives I forge. They will not have the same level of edge retention, nor will they get as sharp as the knives made 100% in my shop. They are an unfinished piece of history that I finish. They are a timeless style of knife, and make a great daily workhorse.
